Our Firm
Sterling Wealth Management, LLC (SWM) is an independent financial services firm that focuses on the growth and protection of personal and business assets. We provide some of the most comprehensive and personal service available, earning us a reputation for excellence.
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
INTEGRITY
We do not have allegiances to any one product, carrier, or provider of insurance or investments. For this reason, we are free from outside influences such as conflicts of interest, quotas, availability, or pricing. This unbiased precept focuses our attention on our relationships with our clients and providing them with the best service possible.
EXCELLENCE
Our firm's commitment to excellence is based on the following: (1) very high personal service and attention to clients; (2) professional and objective counsel in financial planning and investment management, and; (3) using state-of-the-art technology to better serve clients.
DILIGENCE
We apply the utmost diligence in our research to find the best solution for our clients’ financial goals and needs. We do not believe that there is any one plan or product that is right for each client. Instead, we believe that each plan or product has both pros and cons that make it better or worse in varying situations. Our job is to make each client aware of these opportunities and pitfalls. In doing this, the focus is placed on the client's wants and needs and not on the product. Our firm is based on this unbiased principal of education that is so vital to our clients making successful, prudent decisions concerning their financial future.
OUR PROMISE TO YOU
We promise to be a good steward of your precious resources that you place into our care. We cannot promise perfection or that we will always be right; but we will work hard to find and implement the best solution, strategy, or plan to suit your financial situation.
About Steve Ellis, President of SWM
Steve grew up on a 250 acre farm in Kentucky. From dawn to dusk (and then some), hard work was the order of the day. Steve’s parents instilled in him the discipline, diligence, and work ethic that would prepare him for his business profession.
At the age of 5, Steve remembers earning his first “paycheck” working on the farm by doing extra chores. One of the most important lessons his dad taught him was the principle of asset diversification. “We raised a lot of different crops and a variety of livestock. When I was about 10, I asked my dad, ‘Why don’t we just raise one thing? Can’t we just raise cattle? Wouldn’t that be much easier?’ His reply I will never forget, “What happens when the cattle market is in the tank? That’s why we raise and grow so many different things. You shouldn’t have all your eggs in the same basket. One market may be up while the other is down. It helps to balance things out.’ At that young age, I began to understand about business and investing, and it has been a guiding principle that I use each and every day for my clients.”
After moving to Tulsa to attend college, Steve graduated from Oral Roberts University and started his professional career. He has worked as an accountant for RCA, gained valuable client service experience in retail/wholesale sales and management positions for both small and large companies, and has served as a vice-president and president for construction and remodeling firms. For the last 12 years, he has focused on providing the best financial services for his clients. It is the profession that he truly loves.
Steve’s business and personal versatility has been one of the keys to his success in helping clients. Over the years, Steve’s experiences from sales and service to the crunching of numbers and business management, has provided him a well-rounded expertise in personal and business planning needs. You will find him knowledgeable, personable, and very resourceful. He loves to go the "extra-mile" in finding the right solutions for his clients.
Steve believed it was crucial to found SWM on Biblical principles. King Solomon's views on wealth are as timely and wise for today as they were for his time. Some of Steve's favorite scriptures for business are:
"The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage. . . ." Proverbs 21:5
"By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches." Proverbs 24:3-4
"Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed." Proverbs 15:22
"Know well the condition of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds; for riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations." Proverbs 27:23-24
"Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth." Ecclesiastes 11:2
"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children." Proverbs 13:22
"The naïve believes everything, but the sensible man considers his steps" Proverbs 14:15
Steve married his lovely wife, Melissa, over 27 years ago. They have 5 children. The oldest daughter is married (no grandchildren…yet). The oldest son is serving his country in the Army Reserve and attending college. The youngest 3 are still under the loving tutelage of their parents. Faith, Family, and Friends are the priorities of the Ellis family.
Steve currently serves on the board of directors for a local, 501(c)3 organization that he helped found several years ago.
Steve volunteers his time as basketball coach for local youth. His teams have won national championships as a result of superior teamwork, but he is most proud of his players’ sportsmanship and growth in positive character qualities.
Steve's personal interests include playing music (guitar, drums, etc.), photography, travel, and home remodeling projects. Steve and Melissa designed and built their home on a six-acre property south of Tulsa. His wife particularly loves the “extreme makeover” kitchen.
